Wonderful beginning of a story, however the end came too soon and not because it had to. Great writing, vivid descriptions, simple ending. This is the first book that has been made into a movie that I would suggest taking in the movie "instead" of the book.
Back then, I think The DaVinci Code and Chick Lit were all that would keep my mind occupied. so it shall be done.When I cracked it open, I remembered that I had actually started to read this book years ago. This one, included in the stack, has yellowed pages and isn't the "prettiest" book on my shelves. It is very well written, the character development is terrific, and it has the overall feel of an American "classic." If you haven't, gaze over the Storyline above. well, I convinced myself that it is a "must read." As I'm nearing the end of the Just For the Love of It Challenge, I noticed that this book was on my list of ones to finish by the end of April. Because of this, I am terrified of bees. Ray, but I don't think anybody who has read this book actually can say they like him. I was saddened by what happened to a couple of the characters, but happy with the ending as far as the rest of the characters were all concerned.I make the assumption in this review that many of my readers have already read this book.

Civil rights & parental abuse are biggies, but what stands tallest in this story is women standing together, strong, growing through the trials of life but yet helping each other all along the way. What a wonderful story. Sue Monk Kidd has shown how the human psyche can prevail against the powerful negatives of this world. This moral is clear, and gives multitudes of us.hope.Stories like this help me to forget the pettiness, silliness, irrational behavior, and weaknesses of many females, whom I watch from afar. I truly admire the women of character, kindness & integrity that Kidd has brought to us & served with a kind, human hand.
